FOR INDIVIDUALS AND TEAMS
What is CliftonStrengths?
CliftonStrengths is a strengths-based assessment developed by Gallup that identifies your natural talents and shows you how to intentionally develop them into strengths.
Instead of focusing on fixing weaknesses, CliftonStrengths helps you understand how you are wired so you can lead, communicate, and perform more effectively.
As a Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach, Erin helps individuals and teams apply their results in practical ways that improve communication, decision-making, and leadership performance.
When you understand your CliftonStrengths, you gain clarity. And clarity changes how you show up.
“People grow the most where they already have natural talent.”
- Marcus Buckingham
WHY Strengths WORK?
When people understand how they’re naturally wired, communication improves, confidence grows, and performance becomes more sustainable. Strengths-based development shifts the focus from fixing weaknesses to investing in what already works.
Gallup research shows that employees who use their strengths daily are 6x more engaged and productive at work.
When leaders and teams understand each other’s strengths:
Communication becomes clearer
Conflict decreases
Trust increases
Performance improves
Strengths-based leadership isn’t about ignoring weaknesses. It’s about leading from what already works.
“The strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack."
- Rudyard Kipling
Strengths work because they honor both the individual and the team. When each person understands how they’re wired, they contribute with intention. And when a team understands each other’s strengths, they collaborate more effectively. The individual becomes stronger — and so does the group.
A senior leader with strong Achiever and Responsibility themes was exhausted and quietly resentful. She kept taking on work that wasn’t hers because she felt responsible for everything.
Through CliftonStrengths coaching, she realized her wiring drove her to overcommit. Instead of trying to ‘be less responsible,’ she learned to use her strengths intentionally by setting clearer boundaries, delegating to teammates with strong Execution themes, and communicating expectations more directly.
Within months, her stress decreased and her team stepped up.
Strengths work isn’t about changing who you are, it’s about managing your wiring intentionally.
Some Real World Examples
Two department heads clashed regularly.
One had Activator and Command which are decisive and fast-moving. The other had Harmony and Consistency which are steady and cautious.
Each thought the other was ‘difficult.’
CliftonStrengths reframed the conflict as wiring differences, not character flaws.
They adjusted: decision timelines, communication expectations, and project pacing.
The tension didn’t disappear but it became productive when they knew the other person was wired differently.
Strengths shift conflict from emotional to strategic.
An individual contributor felt constantly behind compared to colleagues who spoke up quickly in meetings.
Her top strengths included Deliberative and Input which meant she needed time to think before responding.
Instead of trying to force herself to be spontaneous, she began preparing key talking points in advance and requesting agendas early.
Her confidence increased because she was operating from strength rather than comparison.
Strengths give people permission to work in ways that align with how they’re wired.
